Canada welcomed nearly 19,200 new permanent residents in June 2020. This was revealed in new data from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) released today. The number of permanent residents (PRs) in Canada in June was much higher than the 11,000 newcomers welcomed by Canada in May and the 4,000 who obtained PR in April.
Compared to major Western countries, Canada has one of the highest percentages of immigrants who obtain citizenship. Citizenship refers to the legal status of a person.
