PEI held their latest draw on April 18 to issue invitations to the candidates, who have registered under the Express Entry, Labor Impact and Business Impact sub-categories of Prince Edward Island’s provincial nomination program (PEI PNP).
In the latest PEI PNP draw, 130 invitations were issued to the candidates looking to apply for Canada PR visa and this brings the total number of invitations issued this year 2019 to 570. Out of 130 invitations, 113 invitations were issued to the candidate’s under PEI PNP’s Express entry and Labour Impact subcategories via which they will be able to apply for nomination for Canadian permanent residence. Other 17 invitations were issued to the entrepreneur candidates who were invited through Business Impact: Work Permit Stream via they will be able to PEI PNP for a letter of support for the temporary work permit.
To be eligible under PEI PNP, candidates need to create a separate profile under Expression of Interest (EOI) and submit their profile to the Prince Edward Island’s provincial immigration program. EOI profiles are given points out of 100 based on the factors like educational qualification, work experience and language proficiency in either English or French. Candidate’s profile that is ranked highest is then issued the invitations via regularly held draws.
Express entry linked stream of PEI PNP allows them to search for the capable immigrants with proper skill-sets who have registered under the federal government’s express entry program. It manages the profile of the candidates who have applied under Canada’s three skilled immigration programs – Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC). Express entry candidates who are able to land the provincial nomination are awarded 600 CRS points and these many points make sure that the candidates are able to get the Invitation to Apply (ITA) to apply for Canada PR visa.
Labour Impact Category of PEI PNP is not in line with express entry program and is divided into three EOI based stream – Skilled Workers (in PEI and outside Canada), International Graduates and Critical workers. In order to be eligible under these streams, candidates need to be working in PEI or have an eligible full-time job offer from an eligible employer of the province and among other criterions.
Business Impact: Work Permit Stream allows foreign entrepreneur with business ownership or eligible management experience who are interested to invest in and run a business in Prince Edward Island. Work Permit Stream operates on EOI basis and the lowest-ranked candidate in the latest draw had a score of 107.
